An estimated 621 million young people (age 15–24) are not in education, employment, or training.
Nine out of ten of these young people are in developing countries.

Why does it matter?

Youth unemployment has negative impacts on the overall well-being of a country.
It can lead to social unrest, increased crime and violence, and disengagement from society.
What is the Challenge?
CREATING 1000 GOOD JOBS
Our aim is to create 1,000 good jobs in vulnerable communities, with priority given to young people, women, and rural communities in the developing world.
This challenge will be a public case study on how to leverage the digital gig economy to create jobs in the developing world.
Why a Public Challenge?
In addition to keeping us accountable to our colleagues and customers, this challenge helps us remain focused on what's most important to us.
Regardless of the outcome, we will be very transparent in the process, so that others can learn from our experience, and hopefully replicate this initiative in other parts of the world.
Pilot Country: Madagascar
Despite its natural beauty, bountiful biodiversity, and abundant natural resources, Madagascar remains one of the poorest countries in the world.
